Woodford County High has experienced an exciting start to the school year.
They celebrated the school’s 90th Birthday with events such as all Yr 12s participating in cheerleading, Yr 10s with Ten-pin bowling, Yr9s with potted sports and Yr 7s challenged to a sponsored skipping event for the British Heart Foundation.
In the Borough Cross-Country WCHS celebrated with their teams winning in the Senior and Intermediate Girls and 2nd in the Junior sections. Kate Stockings, our YA Mentor, was the individual winner of the Senior section.
The focus on Badminton over the last two years with funding from BLF & Sport Unlimited has provided dividends with two Yr 8 girls Riya Amin and Pearly Garg winning the Yr 8 Redbridge Games and both KS4 & KS3 teams winning the Redbridge rounds of the Centre Parcs competition and go through to the East London round in February.
All the school were challenged to a Rowathon, in one day they managed to row 414km, the equivalent distance to the north coast of the Netherlands.
Finally our Sports Leaders have been brilliant with many of them volunteering to assist at club practices and school & Partnership events.
Well done to all our girls that have been actively involved in sport!
