Valentines Family Athletics Festival
On the morning of Tuesday 8th June, the skies were grey, it was raining and occasionally a huge thundery downpour fell from the heavens. Luckily though, it slowly began to clear to allow 122 primary school children from years 4,5 and 6 to enjoy an exciting afternoon of athletics.
13 Valentines year 7 Young Leaders and also 9 year 10 pupils who are opting to do the Level 1 in Sports Leadership next year in their PE lessons, led the 12 stations at the event..
It was a fun afternoon of non-stop activity. The juniors, from Cleveland and Christchurch, were mixed up together so that the Olympic value of Friendship could be enhanced as they worked as a team and made new friends.

The Valentines leaders did an excellent job and enjoyed the afternoon. Many of the pupils went home proudly wearing their medals and all received a certificate for participating in the event.
I would like to say a very big thank you to the teachers, class assistants and parent helpers who gave up their time to allow this event to take place. We are already looking forward to the Athletics Family Festival 2011 !!!!
