Glade enjoy Sports Week – March 2010
In March we had Sports week to raise money for Sports relief. Each afternoon the children took part in a range of exciting sports, some of which they had never tried before. These included Softball ran by our resident expert Mr Nicholson who used to run a Softball club in America, Yoga, Rounders, Playground games, Parachute games, Tag rugby, Athletics, Speedstacking, Skip To Be Fit and everyone’s favourite the Wii Challenge!
We also had a visit from Katie Hurry who is a black belt in Karate. She led an assembly and then led a Karate workshop for some of the children. Everyone was amazed at how difficult some of the karate moves were. On Friday we had a sports relief mile where each year group had a chance to complete some laps of the playground whichever way they liked – running, hopping, jumping dancing or a mixture of everything. Even the teachers joined in!
Everyone commented on how good the week was and how much they enjoyed learning the new sports. Better still we raised lots of money for a worthy cause – Sports relief.
